35 Feng Shui Tips for Home and Business Exteriors
When moving into a new home or having one built on a piece of land, consider some external Feng Shui factors that may affect the occupant’s health and safety, auspiciousness, career and relationships. These factors may also prevent progress or growth of the businesses in a building. Consider the following guidelines in Feng Shui that may affect the Good Ch’i of an establishment.
1. A T- or Y- shaped road fronting an establishment or house is bad.
2. A house located at the dead end of a road is unfavorable.
3. A house at the bottom part of a cul-de-sac or cutting-edge side of a u-shaped road poses danger and inauspiciousness to the occupants.
4. A house should not be built in front or anywhere around a cemetery, funeral parlor, a church that accepts funeral services or wakes; temples, hospitals, slaughterhouse, police station.
5. Business establishment must not be built on a land that used to be a cemetery or any place where death, sickness, pain, fear and trauma used to be constantly experienced.
6. A house should not have an electric post, water tank, smoke stack, a big tree, flag pole in front of its main door or facing it across the street.
7. A huge billboard above, beside or in front of a house or building is inauspicious and unsafe.
8. The corner of a house or the roof’s corner should not point towards another neighbor’s house.
9. The front door or main gate of a house or office should not face another gate or main door.
10. A canal, creek or river behind or beside a house carries away good Ch’i from the surrounding.
11. Avoid building a house beside or under an overpass.
12. Do not build a house in front of a bridge.
13. Mountains or big trees behind a house are good because they serve as “backers” or security providers.
14. A house must not be built across or opposite the gap between two tall buildings.
15. Avoid having a u-shaped house. Worse yet, do not put a pond or a pool in the middle of a house where there is open space.
16. Do not make an opening in the middle or center of the house’s roof.
17. The floor level of the house should be higher than the road or basement’s level.
18. Public drainage passing underneath the house is unfavorable.
19. Fences built too close and higher than the house prevent good Ch’i from entering the house.
20. Main door and gate must not directly face each other.
21. A meandering or curved pathway is much better than a straight one.
22. Avoid installing barbed wire and/or cables above the gate.
23. Gate covered with vines is not favorable.
24. Garage should be locate on the green dragon side of the property (at the left side – from the inside looking out) not on the white tiger side.
25. An ideal shape of a lot is rectangular or funnel or fan shape. The front must be narrower than the back.
26. The slight or gradual elevation of a lot from the front towards the back is favorable.
27. Mountain-facing houses are bad.
28. Doors and windows should open inwards to allow the good Ch’i inside.
29. Avoid irregular shaped house or room.
30. A split-leveled house does not have a steady Ch’i. It is much better to build a structure with regular floors or levels.
31. Avoid having a balcony above the main door.
32. A clean garden with flowering plants and trees in a neatly arranged landscape will create a happy Ch’i especially if birds and butterflies and dragonflies visit the garden at daytime and frogs, fireflies, bats and owls at night.
33. Chimes placed where the wind will make them ring will invite positive energies.
34. Windows and doors should not be too big nor too small.
35. The east is not always the best sector for the house or business establishment’s frontage. The owner’s KUA number will tell which will be beneficial. Likewise, the yearly changes of the 9 major flying stars will reveal which sector will be having good or bad luck. Consult a Feng Shui specialist.
So, many homeowners and businessmen have consulted Feng Shui specialists or geomancers before building their homes or putting up their businesses and became successful hence. Feng Shui is actually a science and an art. It is the science that studies man’s relationship with the energies and spaces; surrounding; his achievement of harmony with other people and things; the balance of Yin or negative, and Yang or positive energies. By knowing these, he will have auspiciousness, good health, career growth and love.

Hello, I need advise please. We just moved-in to a new house and it’s in between two tall houses (3 storey and ours is bungalow). I’ve read that it’s bad feng shui. What can I do to correct it? Is there a charm that I can use to prevent bad luck.
Appreciate your feedback.
